Story behind the recipe:
It's been SUCH a long time since BBQ sauce was on the menu for Allergy Girl, let alone things like BBQ pizza. This is like a delicacy to those who can't have tomatoes. It's just as enjoyable for those who can have tomatoes though.
This pizza is the perfect balance of flavors, and easy to make. You also get the added bonus of extra protein in the crust because it's made from chickpeas! So if you are vegan/vegetarian you could easily just use pulled jack fruit instead of pulled pork and you have yourself a regular pizza like everyone else.
You'll definitely have extra BBQ sauce left over so you can store it in the fridge if you want and use it for endless ideas or just keep making this delicious pizza because it's that addicting! There is SO much flavor in this sauce so if you don't like a strong sauce flavor then be very thin with your layer of sauce. Allergy Girl likes a lot of sauce, but the Chef wants only a little bit (and he could actually have regular BBQ sauce). Most will want to use it sparingly. Just give it a small quick taste before applying if you haven't had it before. A little goes a long way.
