Gluten Free Tri-Tip Marinade

Servings: 8-12 people

Prep time: 10 minutes


1 cup Lemon juice

1 cup Olive oil

1/4 cup White sugar

1 cup Gluten Free Soy sauce

1/2 cup Black pepper

1/4 cup Salt

1 cup Granulated garlic

1/2 cup Chopped dried onions

2 tri-tips


  1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl except meat

  2. Put meat in Ziplock (one tri-tip per bag)

  3. Pour marinade over meat, press air out and seal

  4. Put in cool area for 6 hours or overnight

  5. Cook over med/high grill

About cook time...

Use a meat thermometer to check internal temp on thickest part of the meat. Cook until desired temp. The meat keeps cooking after you pull it off so you need to let it rest 10-15 minutes. Fun fact.. letting it rest keeps the juices in the meat as well.

Medium Rare: 125

Medium: 135

Medium well: 145

Story behind this recipe:

A long time ago I got a tri-tip marinade recipe from my friend's dad, and since then I've modified it and turned it into a gluten free version for all to enjoy. I love this recipe because it doesn't make a mess in the kitchen and it's super easy to make. It's a great meal for a hot summer day when you don't want to turn your kitchen into a fiery-hell kitchen you have to slave in. My favorite things to cook with this are veggies you can put on the barbeque with it such as: foil packet potatoes, asparagus, or corn.

We've made this on special occasions like family get-togethers or holidays and it's always a big hit. Everyone has begged for the recipe and raved about how delicious this turns out. I would like to add how important it is not to skimp out on the quality of the meat you get. No matter what this will taste amazing, but when you get quality meat it's like slices of meat heaven. It really makes a big difference and I encourage you to go the extra mile.
