Story behind the recipe:
For anyone who can't have tomato, you know the struggle. It's near impossible to find a tomato free alternative to BBQ sauce and/or tomato free ketchup and even the ones that are out there can have a lot of other allergens in them. This requires no ACV, no crazy mix of veggies, and it's pretty simple to make.
This can be used for so many things, and in case it's been a long time with no BBQ sauce so much so that you need a refresher... BBQ pulled pork, BBQ pizza, you can have it on hot dogs or burgers (Allergy Girl's favorite burger is a ranch BBQ burger), BBQ ribs, BBQ grilled chicken, so many more possibilities! We have a couple recipes you can use with this sauce if you want to ensure its well used. Have extra? Just store it in a mason jar in the fridge.
If you don't have a tomato allergy or restriction, this is still a great BBQ sauce and you'll enjoy it just the same. If you are a fan of the smokey flavor, you can add a little liquid smoke to kick it up a notch. This is also a fun way to get other veggies in you or your kids diet other than just plain old tomatoes which are in everything.
